この程度のレベルかなと思っていたのに、実際にはそれよりもよかった、あるいは悪かった時に使う。程度の差には幅がある。

誤用例
〇 毎日、１０時間も勉強したわりには、成績があまりよくなかった。
上の文のように、「～わりには」の後件には制限があります。誤用例では、合格か不合格か２つしか結果がなく、その間の幅がありません。
このように幅がないものには「～わりには」が使えません。
