文型:〜たらどうですか

[意味]
相手にある行動をするように提案する言い方。
「たほうがいい」よりも直接的な提案。

[英訳]
"Why don't you ~ / how about if you ~"
A way of suggesting that the other person do a certain action.
A more direct suggestion than "~たほうがいい"

[接続]
V(タ形)+ らどうですか。

[備考]
カジュアルな表現は「〜たら?」や「〜たらどう?」が使われる。

例文

A:最近、体の調子がよくないんです。
B:そうですか。じゃあ、病院で見てもらったらどうですか

A: I haven't been feeling well lately.
B: I see. Then why don't you go to the hospital for a checkup?

A:将来、システムエンジニアになりたいと思っているんですが。
B:じゃあ、大学でコンピューターの勉強をしたらどうですか

A: I'd like to be a system engineer in the future.
B: Then why don't you study computer science at the university?

A:日本人の彼女が欲しいなぁ。
B:じゃあ、交流イベントに参加してみたら?

A: I want to have a Japanese girlfriend.
B: Then why don't you join a social event?

A:安い服が欲しいんだけど、どこかいい店知らない?
B:う〜ん、知らないなぁ。鈴木さんに聞いてみたらどう?

A: I need some cheap clothes, do you know any good stores?
B: Hmmm, I don't know. Why don't you ask Mr. Suzuki?

A:宿題もたくさんあるし、バイトもあるし、全然休む時間がないよ。
B:そんなに大変なら、バイト減らしたら?

A: I have a lot of homework and a part-time job, so I don't have time to rest at all.
B: If it's that hard, why don't you cut back on your part-time job?

A:今、お金が全然なくてさ。ごめん、貸してくれない?
B:う〜ん、まずは、親に借りたらどう?

A: I don't have any money at the moment. I'm sorry, can you lend me some?
B: Hmmm, Why don't you borrow some from your parents first?

A:今、昼休みだよ。まだ、仕事してるの?ちょっと休んだら?

A:私の家、ゴキブリが多くて困ってるんです。
B:じゃあ、一度、家の中をチェックしてもらったらどう?

A: I have a problem with cockroaches in my house.
B: Well, why don't you have a contractor check your house?

A:日本の大学で日本語を勉強したいと思っているんです。
B:じゃあ、先生に相談してみたらどうですか?

A: I'd like to study Japanese at a Japanese university.
B: Well, why don't you talk to your teacher about it?

A:将来は海外で働きたいないんだけど、どうやったら働けるかな?
B:知らないよー。先生に相談してみたら?

A: I'd like to work abroad in the future, how can I do that?
B: I don't know! Why don't you talk to your teacher about it?
